Karate
Empty (Kara 空) Hand (Te 手) already tells you that this martial art is about fighting without weapons, training various parts of your body to effectively defend yourself against attackers.
While training with a partner, however, not hurting each other is an important part of the art. Attacks are to be stopped right before the target, requiring the highest precision and mastery of the trainee. Maximum strength is only used against the Makiwara or punching bag.
Training
We try to incorporate all aspects of our martial art and bodily development in our training. Karate can roughly be differenciated between Karate-Jutsu and Karate-Do – Jutsu (technique) focusses on purely technical aspects and fighting or training with an attacker or partner in competition, to defend oneself and avoid bodily harm. Training Do, meanwhile, puts the focus within – exercises are meant to look within and broaden one’s own personality.
